The 21-storey Mixed Use Residential / Office Building is a prominent tower in the Hillcrest area of San Diego.

Located at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Olive Street near Balboa Park in the Hillcrest area of San Diego adjacent to St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, the 21-story Tower is a shining new residential and office tower in the area.  The glass clad structure has 20 storeys of residential levels with panoramic views of the city and Balboa Park, with two levels office space shared with the adjacent Cathedral.  The building was designed by Joseph Wong Design Associates and built by and managed by Greystar Developments.

Notable KOR Structural Solutions

  • The building integrates the desired mix for residential apartments as well as Office space and public and amenity spaces.
  • The residential apartments from levels 3to 19 conform with the structural scheme and form the main portion of the tower.
  • The north faces penthouse suites on level 20 have panoramic views of Hill crest area to the north and Balboa Park to the east.
  • Roof top amenity for the residences containing an outdoor pool and Skylounge has been provided on the south side of level 20 with panoramic views of the downtown core of the city as well as San Diego Bay and Coronado Island
  • Further shared amenity for the office and residential space including Fitness Room has been provided at level 9.
  • Paul’s Cathedral occupies the office space at level 1 & 2 with classroom space and separate elevator lobby at level 1.
  • The underground parking has been split between the residents and St. Paul’s Cathedral with parking access provided from the adjacent Cathedral as well as additional elevators to serve the cathedral
  • The base building structure is comprised of regular reinforced concrete slabs in the basement including levels 1 & 2.
  • Level 2 was designed for specific heavier loads to suit the storage and occupancy requirements specified by the Cathedral.
  • The residential floors consist of post tensioned concrete slabs with in-slab ducts
  • The roof top amenity features an architectural designed structural steel roof above the pool deck with skylight openings positioned to highlight the amenity spaces below.
