The Chilliwack Coliseum is the product of successful collaboration between Ventana Construction, Wally Neumann MQN Architects, Kor Structural, and the City of Chilliwack. It features a 144,000-sf multiplex arena with 5,000-seat NHL ice surface, a secondary NHL-size surface with 300 seats, and 20,000-sf of community space.
The facility was delivered through a design-build financeoperate venture with Hocket Capital Corporation. Community support, as evidenced by overwhelming referendum approval, marked the Chilliwack Coliseum as a very successful small-scale Public-Private Partnership project in BC.
The structure features long-span curved steel trusses and steel bracing which proved an economical solution to frame the building without impeding the rink space.
